A Farmer’s Review Workshop organised by OAIC will take place at the JJ McCarthy Centre in Nairobi between 17th and 18th of September 2015. With a key focus area of livelihoods and food security OAIC is working under one major goal: Action for Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security.
It is against this backdrop that OAIC seeks to build capacity for farmers to ensure an increase in yields. Through trainings and provision of sufficient information, OAIC set up 4 project sites in 2014. Makueni; Vihiga; West Pokot and Machakos as well as in Uganda and Tanzania. Farmer Resource Persons were selected to coordinate these activities at the County level.
The workshop is thus an opportunity to review progress since the process commenced a year ago. It will be a forum to deliberate on issues arising in the field; challenges as well as farmer best practices. Resource Persons with extensive experience in extension service provisions; Value Chain management and other areas of interest from both the public and private sector will address the forum.
